6 month check up

Here are the new stats... weight 18# 3 for a total weight gain of 10# even. Height is 28.25 with 7.75 inches of new growth since birth. Still holding steady with his four front teeth, but pretty certain there is a fifth coming in soon. Not crawling yet, but trying oh so hard. He did pull himself up all by himself this afternoon!! We'll update when we get home from Canada... Thought I would put a picture of him at 24 hours just for the comparision. No longer does he have those nice skinny arms and legs...he's a chunk!

The cabin

Hey everybody!

We have gotten back to Colorado after a quick 7 weeks in Minnesota and St. Louis. Once camp ended, we quickly drove down to the cabin outside of St. Louis for a reunion with mom's family. We managed to see all of the brothers, with just running into Uncle Jake at a gas station on the way to the airport. Uncle Christopher was glad that Abraham was less fussy than when he saw him in March. Great Great Uncle Herb was always ready to lend a hand or help Abraham out whenever necessary. He was also able to get a smile EVERY time he spoke to Abers.

The most exciting part was finally getting to meet cousins Jack and Ava. Ms. Ava has been waiting and waiting and waiting to meet her newest cousin. It was very cute to see the excitement she had in meeting Abers. They had a good time playing with legos and other toys grandma brought out. Both cousins, Uncle Ryan, Grandma, and even 88 yo Uncle Herb got out in the canoe. Jack is quite the paddler! Uncle Herb had a good time as well. There were very excited partiers on shore that were just as excited as we were to have him out. Aber's got to go swimming for the first time! He was a trooper, really starting to relax after the initial shock of the water.

Another exciting part of the trip was Abraham's official baptism. Grandpa baptized Aber's with a little hippy ceremony that the 4 remaining Lougeay/Benson's all took part in. Like a good little lutheran, he cried the entire time. He looked great in his baptismal gown. It is over 100 years old, having been worn by all the uncles, grandpa, and his grandpa. He loved baths in the yellow tub while there, with Grandma always ready to help out!

The big deal was that dad shaved his beard for the first time in 13 years!! We were amazed at how cute he was and the fact there is a dimple always hidden away. Hopefully we see more of the face again soon!

Mom and dad ended up with a couple of dates while at the cabin thanks to Grandma for being so willing to babysit!! We ended up riding the Katy trail from Dutzow, MO to St. Charles, MO. It was a long 37 miles with the humidity but very fun!! It followed the Missouri River, and the trail that Lewis and Clark took. Dinner was much deserved and good. Grandma joined us with Abraham, as well as Aunt Mindy, Uncle Randy, and Jocelyn.

After dealing with nasty weather in western Kansas, we made it home to celebrate Abraham's 6 months of life with friends! It was a good time and an end to a nice 7 weeks away from home. We are home now for about 10 days, and then we head off to meet some more of mom's family that live on Vancouver Island!!

New measurements will be coming soon. We see Dr. Mulder on Monday.

Lazy summer days...

Hi all and happy fourth of July!

Happy belated birthday Aunt Kari! Mom can never remember the exact day, but we thought of you these first five days of July...knowing it was on one of the days!
Here's the latest and greatest from the north woods. Hard to believe we've been at camp for 3 weeks already. It has been a good time! Abraham is settling in to life as a well fed eater. He naps 2-3 times a day now, eats all kinds of food, but still dislikes green beans! He sure is a watermelon fan though. He actually ate that entire piece! It is easy to do when you have 4 teeth with 2 more on top coming through!! Here is the picture from the russian villages production page. David is currently paddling in the boundary waters with the camp kids that are earning high school credit. Here is a shot of his brigade paddling over before they left.

Abraham is able to sit up on his own these days, although he would much rather stand as you can see here. He and I had a nice Sunday afternoon playing outside. He has discovered lego's and how much fun they are. Maybe he'll take after Uncle Jake and sift through them for hours!! After a hard day of playing, it was time for a n ap in his swing.
We only have one week of camp left and then we are on our way to spend time with Mom's crazy brothers and my grandma and grandpa!
Love
Abraham and Jess
