January and February fun

Wow, the time sure does fly. First, we were celebrating a big birthday, then getting ready for a trip to Washington, DC and Cameroon. Unfortunately, Abraham and I didn't get to make either trip. He ended up getting a fever and rash right before we left for DC. Then, surprisingly enough, he didn't weigh enough to take his malaria medicine. On his first birthday, he was only 23.2 pounds. He needed to be 24.8 to make it. We went in to get his MMR shot on Tuesday, the day that David left for Cameroon, and he still wasn't enough. At 13 months, he weighed 23# 12. So much for a big heavy boy.

Ever since he has really started to move, his weight gain has slowed down. I'm pretty sure we have the next flash lightening on our hands. He is VERY fast, running from one place to the next. He is finally starting to take a nap for me. With lots of snuggling, holding tightly, and encouragement, he will fall asleep for about 1 hour!!! Yeah for us!

Abraham's favorite activity is anything that relates to being outside. We end up playing on the deck in the mornings before breakfast, and then again when it is actually warm enough. He enjoys sidewalk chalk, giving Toiyabe a ball, shoveling, sliding...over and over and over, walks, and anything else as long as it is outside.

Enjoy the pictures and videos. We are working on getting a loaded spoon into the mouth. It is much easier said than done. Find us on skype Jessica Lougeay-Benson.

He brought me his snow boots, tried to put them on himself and then begged to go outside 2 mornings ago...at 0745. Who cares if it's really cold out!!

Aunt Beth, Simeon, and Mrs. E come to visit

What a great time we had last week! Mom's best friend of 22 years came to town for a wedding she was in, along with her son, Simeon, and mom - Mrs. E!! What a great treat for everybody. The boys had never met. We had a great time playing, attending wedding stuff, and just catching up. Thanks for coming out to see us!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

David made plans for our anniversary this year and surpised me with dinner at the Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs, CO. It was a very yummy meal with 5 courses! Last year, we had a 3 week old Abraham with us. This year, we were lucky and Grandma was willing to babysit with our good friend Mrs English, who happened to be babysitting her grandson Simeon. Pictures to follow in another blog.

1st Birthday Party

Hello all! Here are some pictures for those of you that couldn't make it out this way to celebrate us all surviving the first year! Abraham had a great time and really enjoyed the attention. After everybody left, he kept running around, playing with his new workbench, trying to get somebody to play with him. We go to the doctor on Friday, so we'll give you a year in review at that point.

Happy Birthday time. Candles are great!

WALKIN...FOR YOUR LOVE.

Well, the big day has finally arrived. Abraham is a walker! He's been taking steps for a while, but he is consistently taking many more together now. We have a quick video just to let you see. When Aber's is walking, he likes to have his arms way up in the air, rolling his wrists around. I guess it helps with the balance. Enjoy!

We are in the process of rearranging our house today, so this is it for now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! May 2010 be as exciting as 2009.

11 months old

Favorite zoo activity...feeding the giraffes!

Whoa!

Hard to believe we have an 11 month old person living in this house. It feels like no time at all has passed and I was gigantic, anxiously awaiting the arrival of some baby we now call Abraham!! The developments as of late: 11 teeth still with 1 more molar just about through. We have quite the make-out artist on our hands. He loves to give big, open mouth, slobbery kisses. Beware to any visitors making their way out here! Aber's is also very, very mobile. He has actually taken 6-7 steps on his own without realizing what he's doing. Once he figures it out though, he face plants and giggles.

As for his measurements, he is 23# and 32 inches, give or take. Anybody that's out this way is welcome to come over on January 17th for a 1st birthday party!

Stay warm. Get outside. Merry Christmas!

Happy Hanukkah

Happy Hanukkah to those that celebrate this holiday. It is a first for Abraham this year. David has been teaching him about the menorah, the number of candles, and what it all means. Abraham, of course, is amazed by the flames on the candles. He also thinks the paper is fun to play with. He's not too worried about what's inside yet. Enjoy!

Opening presents with mom's help! A Luxury yacht to help make our troubled bath time more fun!

On his way to the "Abraham train", a wooden toy that Mickey Landry helped us find in the French Quarter, New Orleans. At this point, the McDonald's cup was perhaps of more interest to Abers!

Opening presents with dad's help.

Even Toiyabe had a good time opening Hanukkah presents this year.
